For people with COPD (a long-term lung condition):
- People who have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- People aged 18 or older
For people without COPD:
- People who have not been diagnosed with COPD
- People aged between 18 and 30, or between 45 and 70 years old
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have taken certain medications in the month before providing a sample, including antibiotics, steroid tablets, or medications that affect the immune system
