Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men aged 18 or older
  • People where doctors suspect prostate cancer may be present
  • People with a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test result between 4 and 20 ng/mL
  • People whose rectal examination results suggest the cancer, if present, appears to be contained within the prostate gland
  • People who are able to give written consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously had a prostate biopsy
  • People with a past or current diagnosis of prostate cancer
  • People for whom an MRI scan is not medically suitable (for example, those with a pacemaker fitted or who experience severe claustrophobia)
  • People for whom a transperineal prostate biopsy procedure is not medically suitable — this includes those with an active urinary tract infection, certain positioning or physical limitations, uncorrectable blood clotting problems, or those taking blood-thinning or anti-clotting medications that cannot be safely stopped (confirm with trial site)
