Who might be able to join this trial:

Who may not be able to join:

  • You only have one functioning eye
  • Your macular damage is caused by a condition other than AMD
  • You have other eye conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, diabetic eye disease, or other diseases affecting the retina or blood vessels in the eye, besides AMD
  • You have a history of cataracts affecting central vision, glaucoma, uveitis, retinal detachment, optic nerve problems, or similar eye conditions
  • You have had eye surgery in the past, other than cataract surgery
  • You have had serious health conditions in the past 12 months, such as heart failure, liver disease, kidney problems, or serious lung disease
  • You have a serious infectious disease such as HIV, hepatitis B or C, syphilis, or tuberculosis
  • Your blood clotting or other laboratory test results are abnormal
  • You are female and are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study
  • You are male and are unwilling to use barrier contraception and spermicide during the study
  • You have or have had a malignant (cancerous) tumor
  • You have any condition that affects your immune system
  • You are allergic to tacrolimus or similar medications (macrolides)
  • You have taken steroids, immunosuppressive drugs, or certain psychiatric medications in the past 3 months
  • You are currently taking blood-thinning medications, or your blood's clotting ability has not returned to normal within 10 days of stopping anti-clotting medication
  • You have a history of alcohol addiction or use of prohibited drugs
  • You are currently taking part in another clinical trial or receiving another experimental treatment
  • You are unlikely to be able to complete the study, or you are unwilling to give your consent
  • You have a mental health condition, cognitive difficulties, or other circumstances that could affect your safety or the study results (confirm with trial site)
