Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are male or female, aged 18 or older, and are looking for treatment for hair loss
- You have been diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia (common pattern baldness) or scarring alopecia, confirmed by a biopsy, with hair loss recorded over the past 6 months
- Your hair loss treatment has been stable for at least 3 months, with no further improvement during that time
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form, showing you understand and agree to take part
- You are considered healthy and have not smoked in the past 12 months, and agree not to change your current hair care routine during the study
- You are able and willing to follow the treatment schedule and all study requirements
- You agree not to have any other treatments done to the area being studied for the duration of the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable to give your own consent to take part in the study
- You have a different type of hair loss, such as alopecia areata (patchy hair loss)
- You have had steroid injections into your scalp in the last 12 months
- You are pregnant
- You have a medical condition that may make you more sensitive to light treatments (confirm with trial site)
- You have had a surgical procedure in the treatment area in the past 12 months, or any major surgery in the last 6 months
- You have an allergy to lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) or have had a reaction to it before
- You have a history of immune system disorders, including HIV or AIDS, or have had systemic chemotherapy in the past 12 months
- You are currently taking or have recently taken certain prescription medications, including immune-suppressing drugs or biologics within the past 6 months, or Accutane (isotretinoin) or similar vitamin A-based medications within the past 12 months
- You have smoked or vaped in the past 12 months
- You have a history of uncontrolled high cholesterol, diabetes, hepatitis, or bleeding disorders
- You have a history of major depression or thyroid/hormonal disorders, such as an underactive thyroid, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, or an overactive thyroid
