Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 70 years old
- People with a certain stage of breast cancer (ranging from early to more locally advanced stages), or a smaller tumour that has spread to the lymph nodes under the arm, confirmed by clinical and laboratory testing
- People whose breast cancer has been confirmed by biopsy to be "triple negative," meaning the cancer does not respond to oestrogen, progesterone, or a protein called HER-2
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured by ultrasound, mammogram, or MRI scan within one month before joining the trial
- People whose organ and bone marrow function tests, taken within one month before starting chemotherapy, show no reasons to avoid chemotherapy
- People whose heart pumping function (measured by a heart ultrasound) is at least 55%
- Women of childbearing age who have a negative blood pregnancy test taken within 14 days before joining the trial
- People who have a good general health and activity level (rated 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale called the ECOG score, meaning fully active or able to carry out light work)
- People who have read and signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose breast cancer has already spread to other parts of the body
- People who have already received chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or radiation therapy for this breast cancer
- People who have a second, separate cancer (other than certain well-treated skin cancers)
- People who have previously been treated with a type of immune therapy that targets proteins called PD-1, PD-L1, or PD-L2, or any other immunotherapy
- People who have been diagnosed with an immune system deficiency disease or an autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body)
- People who have severe lung or heart disease
- People who have active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection
- People who have had an organ transplant or bone marrow transplant in the past
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People whose overall medical condition leads the trial doctors to consider chemotherapy unsafe for them
