Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a man or a woman (who is not pregnant) between 18 and 65 years old
- You are willing and able to take part in all parts of the study
- You are willing to sign a written consent form agreeing to participate
If you are in the Control Group (Group 2 — people without diabetes):
- You do not have a diagnosis of diabetes
If you are in the Type 1 Diabetes Group (Group 3):
- You have been diagnosed with diabetes within the last 180 days (about 6 months), confirmed by blood sugar and HbA1c tests
- You have at least one specific marker in your blood (called an autoantibody) linked to Type 1 diabetes — these include markers related to insulin, IA-2, GAD65, or ZnT8 (confirm with trial site)
- If the insulin-related marker is being used, it must have been tested within the first 14 days of your diabetes diagnosis
Who may not be able to join:
- Your body size makes it difficult to get a clear scan of the pancreas, as decided by the scan technician
- You have a known pancreas disease, such as pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, pancreatic cancer, or a neuroendocrine tumor
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are unable to understand or sign a consent form
- You have a known or suspected allergy to a substance called perflutren, which is used in the scan
- You have a known or suspected serious heart or lung condition, such as a recent heart attack, unstable heart failure, or dangerous heart rhythm problems
- You are in the Control Group (Group 2) and have been diagnosed with diabetes
- You currently take certain blood sugar medications, such as GLP1R agonists or sulfonylureas (note: if you take metformin, you may still be eligible if you are able to stop taking it for at least two weeks before each scan — confirm with trial site)
- You have received any treatment that affects your immune system within the past 3 months
