Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, confirmed through camera examinations of the bowel, tissue samples, and body scans.
  • You have had surgery to remove part of your bowel due to Crohn's disease.
  • After surgery, you are able to eat food or take nutrition by mouth.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are expected to need another operation within 5 weeks after your surgery.
  • You have a stoma bag (an opening on your abdomen that collects waste from your bowel).
  • You have a completely blocked bowel or a very stiff, narrowed section of bowel.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are planned to use biologic medicines (a type of specialist drug for Crohn's disease) within 5 weeks after surgery.
  • You are planned to use steroid medicines above a certain dose to keep your Crohn's disease under control within 5 weeks after surgery.
  • You plan to take probiotic or prebiotic supplements for more than 1 week after surgery.
  • You will be taking antibiotics for more than 2 weeks after surgery.
  • You have a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredients in tube or liquid nutrition feeds.
  • Your body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) is below 14 or above 28.
  • You have coeliac disease (a condition where gluten damages the gut).
  • You have another autoimmune condition, such as diabetes, rheumatic disease, autoimmune liver disease, or psoriasis.
  • You have a mental illness (confirm with trial site).
  • You have or have had a cancer diagnosis.
  • You have a pacemaker or metal implants in your body that would make certain body measurements unsafe.
  • You are currently taking part in another clinical trial.
  • The research team has another reason they feel you would not be suitable for this study (confirm with trial site).
