Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have prostate cancer that has stopped responding to hormone therapy (called castration-resistant prostate cancer) and whose PSA levels are rising while taking one of these specific medications: abiraterone, enzalutamide, or darolutamide.
- People who have previously been treated with 1 or 2 hormone-targeting therapies for prostate cancer (not counting apalutamide).
- People whose treating doctor considers them either ineligible for, or who have chosen not to pursue, a type of chemotherapy called taxane therapy.
- People who agree to use an appropriate form of contraception during treatment and for 3 months after the last dose of the trial medications (apalutamide and/or carotuximab).
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose prostate cancer does not produce PSA, such as certain rare types (like small cell prostate cancer), or whose cancer is getting worse on scans but without a rising PSA level.
- People who have previously taken apalutamide.
- People who currently have another cancer that requires active treatment.
- People who have previously received carotuximab or any similar medication that targets a protein called CD105.
- People who have active bleeding or a medical condition that is considered to carry a high risk of bleeding.
- People who have been diagnosed with a condition called Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome (a genetic condition affecting blood vessels).
