For stroke survivors:

  • Adults aged 20 years or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with their first stroke within the past two years
  • People who speak Mandarin
  • People who have an identified main family caregiver who helps look after them and takes responsibility for their care
  • People who are able to give their own consent to take part in the study

For family caregivers:

  • Adults aged 20 years or older
  • People who speak Mandarin
  • People who are recognised by the stroke survivor as their main caregiver
  • People who are available to attend the program sessions together with the stroke survivor

Who may not be able to join:

The following applies to both the stroke survivor and their caregiver — if either person meets any of these criteria, neither may be able to join:

  • People who are currently undergoing major medical treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or dialysis, that may make it difficult to take part in the study
  • People who have severe difficulty with speaking or understanding language as a result of their stroke (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are unable to take part in a one-hour discussion session
  • People who have a diagnosis of dementia, major depression, substance use disorder, or another psychiatric condition that may make it difficult to take part in the study
