Who might be able to join this trial:
First stage (initial scan):
- You are 18 years of age or older (there is no upper age limit)
- You have a prostate (this includes men born male, or transgender women who have never used hormone therapy to reduce testosterone)
- Your doctor has referred you for a prostate MRI because of an abnormal rectal examination and/or a PSA blood test result that is considered raised — specifically: PSA of 3.0 or above if you are aged 50–69; PSA of 5.0 or above if you are aged 70 or older; or PSA of 2.5 or above if you are aged 45–49 and have a higher risk due to family history or ethnic background; and this blood test was taken within the last 6 months
Second stage (biopsy):
- Your MRI scan from the first stage showed a suspicious area that doctors believe needs a tissue sample (biopsy) to investigate further
Who may not be able to join:
First stage:
- Your PSA blood test result is above 50
- You have had a prostate MRI scan or prostate biopsy in the last two years
- You have already been diagnosed with prostate cancer
- You are unable to have an MRI scan or the contrast dye used during MRI (confirm with trial site)
- You have had both hips replaced
- You are unable to have a biopsy carried out using an ultrasound probe inserted into the back passage (confirm with trial site)
Second stage (in addition to the above):
- You do not wish to have a biopsy
