Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are male or female and are older than 16 years of age
- You have Crohn's disease affecting a specific part of your bowel (the area where the small and large intestine meet, or a similar area after previous surgery) that your doctors have recommended needs an operation
- You are currently taking medications such as steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, or other medicines used to treat bowel disease — these are still allowed
- You have recently had a colonoscopy (camera test of the bowel) and an up-to-date scan, such as an ultrasound or MRI scan
- You are able and willing to follow the study's requirements and attend follow-up appointments
- You are able to understand the trial and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- Your case has been reviewed and discussed by a team of specialist doctors at your local hospital
Who may not be able to join:
- You are not able to give your consent to take part in the trial
- You are under 16 years of age
- You have had a serious health problem in the last six months, such as a heart attack, chest pain (angina), or heart failure — or another condition that the doctors feel could put you at risk (confirm with trial site)
- You have been diagnosed with cancer within the last 5 years that could affect your health outlook
- You need emergency surgery right away
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are unable to attend follow-up appointments at 3, 6, and 12 months after your operation, which include check-ups, scans, and a camera test of the bowel
