Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have had their first-ever stroke
• People whose stroke happened more than six weeks ago
• People who are having difficulty swallowing as a result of their stroke
• People with good enough comprehension, as measured by a standard language test (a score not below PT 53 on the Token Test)
• People with adequate eyesight and hearing, either naturally or with the help of glasses or hearing aids

Who may not be able to join:

• People with a skin infection, wound, or skin condition in the area under the jaw, as these can interfere with the muscle activity recordings used in this trial
• People with serious ongoing illnesses — such as fever, infection, metabolic problems, or severe heart failure — that could affect their ability to participate
• People with severe uncontrolled muscle stiffness or involuntary movements
• People who have reduced or impaired consciousness
• People whose brain condition is caused by multiple strokes rather than a single stroke
• People who are unable to tolerate or participate in the experimental treatment sessions
• People who have other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's disease
