Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been admitted to Lynn Rehabilitation Center with a recent ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) diagnosed within the past month
- People who are able to give written consent to participate, or who have a family member or representative who can give consent on their behalf in person or by phone
- People who can read and understand instructions given in English or Spanish
Who may not be able to join:
- Adults who are older than 80 years of age
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who are incarcerated (in prison or jail)
- People who have a history of swallowing difficulties before this stroke
- People who have been diagnosed with a bleed in or around the brain, including conditions such as bleeding within the brain tissue, bleeding between the brain and its protective layers, or a traumatic brain injury
