  • People who have been admitted to Lynn Rehabilitation Center with a recent ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) diagnosed within the past month
  • People who are able to give written consent to participate, or who have a family member or representative who can give consent on their behalf in person or by phone

  • Adults who are older than 80 years of age
  • People who are currently pregnant

  • People who have a history of swallowing difficulties before this stroke
  • People who have been diagnosed with a bleed in or around the brain, including conditions such as bleeding within the brain tissue, bleeding between the brain and its protective layers, or a traumatic brain injury
