Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer that is being treated for the first or second time it has come back, who previously received at least 4 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy as their initial treatment
- People whose cancer came back more than 6 months after finishing platinum-based chemotherapy
- People who were on PARP inhibitor maintenance therapy (a type of targeted cancer drug) for more than 6 months before their cancer returned
- People whose initial surgery achieved complete removal of visible tumour (no cancer left behind)
- People whose scans (PET-CT) show the cancer has returned in no more than 5 separate spots, and who have less than 500ml of fluid build-up in the abdomen
- People with a good general level of physical functioning (rated 0 or 1 on a standard medical activity scale)
- People whose liver is functioning within acceptable ranges based on blood test results
- People whose kidneys are functioning within acceptable ranges based on blood test results
- People whose blood counts (white blood cells and platelets) are within acceptable ranges
- People who are medically fit enough to undergo major surgery under general anaesthetic
- People who have read, understood, and signed a consent form before any study procedures begin
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose ovarian cancer did not respond to platinum-based chemotherapy or is not controlled
- People with certain non-standard ovarian tumour types, including mucinous, mixed mucinous, malignant Brenner tumour, low-grade serous carcinoma, or borderline tumours
- People who have had another cancer in the past 2 years that has not completely cleared
- People who received radiotherapy within 2 weeks before the trial treatment is due to start
- People whose overall health means they would not be able to safely undergo a second cancer-reducing surgery
- People who have had a severe allergic reaction (grade 3 or higher) to paclitaxel or platinum-based drugs, or to any of their ingredients
