Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have had a stroke on one side of the brain only, either caused by a blocked blood vessel or a bleed in the brain
- People whose stroke happened within the last 3 months
- People who have significant weakness in the arm on the affected side (muscle strength rated at 3 or below on a standard medical scale)
- People who have no history of previous stroke, seizures, dementia, Parkinson's disease, or other conditions that cause the nervous system to gradually decline
- People who are able to sit upright for more than 15 minutes
- People aged 21 or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a stroke, a brain injury caused by trauma, or a brain tumour
- People who have a condition affecting the central nervous system, such as a spinal cord injury or Parkinson's disease
- People who have any reason they cannot safely receive a type of brain stimulation treatment called rTMS — this includes a history of seizures, alcoholism, having metal implants in the body, or having a pacemaker
- People who are not able to cooperate with or participate in the treatment sessions
- People who are pregnant
- People who have depression
