Who might be able to join this trial:
- Men between 18 and 80 years old whose PSA blood test result is above 3 ng/ml and who are being considered for further testing such as an MRI or prostate biopsy
- Men who have had a normal prostate exam (done by a doctor feeling the prostate through the rectum) within the past two years
- Men who have no current signs of a urinary tract infection, such as pain when urinating, strong-smelling urine, or a positive urine infection test
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a history of allergic reaction or sensitivity to ibuprofen or similar anti-inflammatory medications (called NSAIDs)
- People with a history of stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal (gut) bleeding, or gut problems caused by anti-inflammatory medications
- People with known bleeding disorders
- People with severely reduced kidney function (confirm with trial site)
- People with heart failure or significant heart disease
- People with high blood pressure that is not well controlled
- People with an active urinary tract infection or bacteria detected in their urine
- People currently taking certain prostate medications called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (such as finasteride or dutasteride), unless they have been taking the medication for at least 6 months
- People who have already been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or who have had a prostate MRI or biopsy within the past year
- People who have had any procedure involving a tube or instrument placed into the urinary tract (such as a catheter or bladder camera) within the past 6 weeks
- People currently taking other anti-inflammatory or steroid medications
- People currently taking blood-thinning medications or dual antiplatelet therapy, except for low-dose aspirin (81 mg) taken alone
- People with a known history of severe liver disease or significantly abnormal liver test results
- People with any other medical reason that a doctor determines makes anti-inflammatory medications unsafe for them
