Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to give written consent to participate
- People aged 13 or older
- People who are able to correctly use the study inhalers, complete an electronic diary, and attend all required visits
- People with a confirmed diagnosis of mild or moderate asthma, managed with at most a low-dose combination inhaler containing a steroid and a long-acting bronchodilator
- People whose lung function (measured before using a bronchodilator) is at least 60% of the expected value
- People whose breathing improves by at least 12% or 200ml after using a bronchodilator during testing
- People who are non-smokers
- Women who are not pregnant, and women who could become pregnant must be using effective contraception
Who may not be able to join:
- People who had a severe asthma attack in the past 3 months
- People who have taken steroid tablets, injections, or other systemic steroids in the past 12 weeks
- People who have another lung or breathing condition, such as bronchiectasis, COPD, or lung fibrosis (confirm with trial site for other conditions)
- People with a current or past history of tuberculosis in any part of the body
- People with a current cancer diagnosis or a history of cancer in the past 5 years
- People taking medications that are known to interact with the study medications
- People currently using beta-blocker medications, including beta-blocker eye drops
- People with another significant ongoing condition affecting the heart, liver, kidneys, or similar organs (confirm with trial site for other conditions)
- People with a current or past history of alcohol or drug misuse
- People with a current or past history of a significant mental health condition
- People with a current or past history of a significant immune system deficiency
- People who have received a biological therapy (a specialist injectable medicine) for asthma in the last 3 years, or whose treating doctor considers them currently eligible for such a therapy
- People currently receiving immune-modifying treatments, including biological therapies, for any condition (participation may be considered after a waiting period based on the specific medication — confirm with trial site)
- People with a known allergy or medical reason to avoid any of the study medications
