Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have had their first-ever stroke, where more than 12 months have passed since it occurred
  • People with mild to moderate weakness or movement difficulty in the upper arm and hand, based on a specific movement assessment score (between 15 and 53 on the Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity scale)
  • People whose finger flexor and extensor muscles still produce a detectable electrical signal when they try to move voluntarily
  • People with a muscle stiffness score below 3 (on the Modified Ashworth Scale) in the finger flexor and extensor muscles

  • People with a history of epilepsy, or any other condition that would make brain stimulation unsafe for them
  • People with severe joint stiffness or tightening in the elbow or shoulder, or pain caused by other neurological, neuromuscular, or bone and joint conditions
