Who might be able to join this trial:
For participants:
- You are willing and able to give your consent to join the study after it has been fully explained to you.
- You are able and willing to follow all the requirements of the study.
- You have signed a consent form agreeing to take part.
- You are able to read, write, and communicate in English.
For caregivers/administrators (the person who helps deliver the treatment):
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- You feel comfortable using a computer and are willing to learn how to deliver the brain stimulation treatment (called tES) to the participant.
- You are available on weekdays throughout the study to deliver the treatment to the participant.
Who may not be able to join:
For participants:
- You have a major mental health condition such as severe depression, schizophrenia, or psychosis.
- You have blindness or another disability that would prevent you from completing the study tasks.
- You have certain health factors that make the brain stimulation treatment (tES) unsafe for you, such as having had a seizure in the past two years, taking medications that affect the brain, or having certain implanted medical devices (such as a deep brain stimulator, medication pump, or cochlear implant).
- You have an active skin condition, such as eczema, on your scalp.
- You score 18 or below on a standard memory and thinking test called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) during an in-person screening visit.
- You are unable to show a clear understanding of what the study involves after reviewing the consent form (confirm with trial site).
For caregivers/administrators:
- You show signs of mild memory or thinking difficulties, based on a score of 26 or below on the MoCA test during an in-person screening visit.
- You are unable to show a clear understanding of what the study involves after reviewing the consent form (confirm with trial site).
- You have poor eyesight, severe arthritis in your hands, pain, a physical deformity, or any other condition that would make it difficult for you to deliver the brain stimulation treatment.
