Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 18 and 75 years old
• You have been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis that was not caused by gallstones, medications, injury, or an autoimmune condition
• You are able to swallow pills and are willing to take them as directed throughout the study
• Your blood calcium, phosphate, and parathyroid hormone levels are all within the normal range
• You have not had any surgery on your pancreas before
• If you have pancreatic tissue death (necrosis), it affects less than half of the pancreas (confirmed by a radiologist)
• You are not currently in another clinical trial and have not been in one within the last 6 months
• You are willing to sign a consent form and take part in all study activities for the full length of the study
• If you could become pregnant, you agree to use a reliable form of birth control for at least one month before the study starts, throughout the study, and for one week after finishing the study treatment
• If you are male and could father a child, you agree to use condoms or another reliable method of contraception with your partner

Who may not be able to join:

• You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
• You have a history of pancreatitis caused by an autoimmune condition or injury, or a severe episode of pancreatitis that may have damaged the ducts in your pancreas
• You have a known tumor of the pancreas (such as pancreatic cancer, certain cysts larger than 1 cm, or other pancreatic tumors)
• Cancer from another part of your body has spread to your pancreas
• You have had an organ transplant or have HIV/AIDS
• Your blood calcium, phosphate, or parathyroid hormone levels are outside the normal range
• You have a known condition where your pancreas does not produce enough digestive enzymes, but you do not meet the other requirements to join the study (confirm with trial site)
• You have a physical illness, mental health condition, or ongoing substance use problem that the study doctor feels would make it difficult for you to safely take part in the study
• Your kidneys are not working well enough — specifically, if your kidney function level (GFR) is below 30 (confirm with trial site)
• You are currently in prison or jail
• You are unable to have an MRI scan
• If you could become pregnant (unless you are post-menopausal, have had a hysterectomy, or have had a sterilisation procedure), you must have a negative pregnancy test within 2 days before any research-related procedures
