Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are older than 16 years of age
- People who have given consent to participate, or for whom a consent waiver has been granted according to the relevant guidelines
- People who have been diagnosed with preeclampsia, which is defined as new high blood pressure (above 140/90mmHg, measured on more than one occasion, after 20 weeks of pregnancy) combined with at least one of the following:
- High levels of protein in the urine
- A low platelet count (below 100,000 per microlitre of blood)
- Elevated creatinine levels in the blood (a marker of kidney function)
- Liver enzyme levels at least twice the normal upper limit
- Fluid in the lungs
- New and ongoing headache
- Visual disturbances
- People who are having their postnatal follow-up care at the obstetrics and cardiology clinic at Inselspital Bern, Switzerland
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are younger than 16 years of age
- People whose medical data is incomplete or unclear, where the trial team is unable to confirm eligibility or assess the main outcome of the study, even after attempts to clarify the information
