Who might be able to join this trial:

• Children who are older than 2 years and younger than 16 years old, with no genetic conditions
• Children who have been newly diagnosed with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis (a type of bowel inflammation), measured using a standard scoring tool called the PUCAI, as part of the first-line treatment group
• Children with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis whose condition has not responded to standard treatments such as hormones, immune-suppressing medicines, or biologic medicines, as part of the refractory (hard-to-treat) group
• Children and families who agree to have regular colonoscopy procedures (camera examinations of the bowel) during the trial

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who have received a specific type of nutritional feeding called PEN (at 80% of nutrition) for less than 8 weeks
• Children in the first-line treatment group who have already been treated with corticosteroids, methotrexate, thiopurines, or anti-TNF medicines as their first treatment
• Children who have a known medical reason why all methods of delivering FMT (a treatment using donated stool) cannot be used — this includes nasal tube feeding, camera procedures of the upper digestive tract, bowel camera procedures, enemas, and capsule methods
• Children or families who are unwilling to provide consent to participate in the trial
