Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- Your glaucoma or high eye pressure is not well controlled with current treatment
- Your doctor has planned for you to have an Ahmed valve implant (a small drainage device placed in the eye)
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of glaucoma, including primary open angle glaucoma, primary angle closure glaucoma, or glaucoma related to protein buildup, pigment, or an eye injury — with or without having had previous eye surgery that did not fully work
- This would be your first time having this type of drainage device implanted
- You are able and willing to give your consent to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have no light perception at all in the affected eye (completely no vision)
- You are unable or unwilling to give your informed consent
- You are not able to attend regular follow-up appointments
- You have previously had a procedure that used heat, cold, or laser to destroy part of the eye's fluid-producing tissue (confirm with trial site)
- You have had a previous procedure involving a band placed around the outside of the eye, or anything else physically blocking where the drainage device would be placed
- You have silicone oil currently present in your eye
- You have gel-like fluid from the back of the eye that has moved to the front of the eye and would require surgical removal
- Your glaucoma is caused by eye inflammation (uveitis)
- Your glaucoma is caused by abnormal blood vessel growth in the eye
- You have an unusually small eye (a condition called nanophthalmos)
- You have a condition that raises the pressure in the blood vessels around your eye (confirm with trial site)
- Your planned eye surgery involves anything other than glaucoma drainage device implantation, or cataract removal at the same time
- You have any other eye condition (apart from glaucoma) that could affect the accuracy of eye pressure measurements
