Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who need a blood draw (needle into a vein) as part of preparation for an eye procedure
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a sensitivity reaction or allergic reaction to lignocaine (a type of local anaesthetic)
- People who have previously had an allergic reaction to any of the materials used in this study, including plaster, electrodes, maltose, Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), or Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
- People who have taken any pain-relieving medication within 24 hours before the procedure
- People who have a widespread skin condition or rash
- People who are agitated, restless, or unable to cooperate during the procedure
- People who are unable to communicate, or who are deaf or mute
- People who are taking sleeping medications or long-term pain relief medications
- People who have a psychiatric condition
- People who have a liver condition affecting how the liver works
- People who are taking certain medications that affect how the liver processes drugs — including some antibiotics, heart medications, and others (confirm with trial site) — as these may interact with lignocaine
- People for whom the first attempt at placing the needle into a vein was unsuccessful after the study patch was applied
