Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has three groups (Cohort A, B, and C). Please check which group may apply to you:
Cohort A (IBD found during routine colon cancer screening):
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You were recently diagnosed with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) during a routine colon cancer screening colonoscopy
- Your bowel tissue sample (biopsy) showed signs consistent with IBD
- You had no symptoms of IBD before or at the time of diagnosis
- Your diagnosis was made within the last 3 months
Cohort B (IBD diagnosed after symptoms appeared):
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You were recently diagnosed with IBD, with symptoms starting less than 3 months ago
- Your diagnosis was made within the last 3 months
Cohort C (No IBD found during routine colon cancer screening):
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You had a full colonoscopy as part of a routine colon cancer screening program, with no signs of IBD found
- Your colonoscopy was performed within the last 3 months
Who may not be able to join:
Cohort A:
- A harmful bacteria or infection was found in your stool sample
- Your biopsy only showed short-term (acute) inflammation with no signs of a long-term condition
- You have been previously or are currently diagnosed with microscopic colitis (a specific type of bowel inflammation)
Cohort B:
- You have previously taken or are currently taking immune-suppressing medications or biologic drugs for any health condition (confirm with trial site)
Cohort C:
- You currently have any digestive or gut-related symptoms
- You have previously taken or are currently taking immune-suppressing medications or biologic drugs for any health condition (confirm with trial site)
