Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of oesophageal (food pipe) cancer — either adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma — confirmed by a tissue sample analysis, and who are having surgery to remove the oesophagus.
- People whose cancer has been classified by pathology as stage T3, meaning the tumour has grown to a certain depth into surrounding tissue as determined after surgery.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer is classified as stage T0, T1, or T2 (less advanced) or stage T4 (more advanced into nearby structures) based on pathology results.
- People whose cancer type is something other than the two specific types listed above, or whose condition is classified as pre-cancerous change or very early cancer that has not grown into surrounding tissue.
- People who are having a specific type of surgery called salvage oesophagectomy, which is performed after other treatments have not worked.
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body (distant metastasis).
- People whose surgical results show that cancer cells were found at the edges of the removed tissue, meaning the cancer may not have been fully removed (confirm with trial site).
