Who might be able to join this trial:

- People who are willing to provide a vaginal swab and a stool (poo) sample

- People who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) at Erasmus MC, confirmed using a recognised set of diagnostic guidelines, by having at least two of the following: signs of higher-than-normal male hormones (either through physical signs or blood test results); irregular or absent periods; or polycystic ovaries shown on a scan
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a BMI below 18 (considered underweight)
- People who smoke
- People who have diabetes or who are taking medication that helps the body use insulin more effectively
- People with ongoing or current infectious diseases
- People with a more severe form of endometriosis (classified as stage III or IV)
- People with elevated levels of the hormone prolactin, or who have a thyroid condition, Cushing's disease, or a gastrointestinal (gut) condition
- People who have used hormonal contraceptives (such as the pill) or other steroid-based hormones in the past 3 months
- People who have used antibiotics, probiotics, or laxatives in the past 3 months
