Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a history of leg pain while walking (called claudication), assessed using a standard walking questionnaire
- You experience leg pain in one or both legs during walking, which is confirmed during a treadmill test
- A blood pressure test of your ankles shows reduced blood flow at rest or a significant drop in ankle blood pressure after exercise, indicating reduced circulation in the legs
- You are 40 years of age or older
Who may not be able to join:
- Tests show your leg blood circulation is normal (no evidence of reduced blood flow at rest or after exercise)
- Your ankle blood pressure cannot be measured accurately because your blood vessels are too stiff (confirm with trial site)
- You have reduced blood flow in your legs but experience no symptoms such as leg pain
- You have severe leg pain even while resting, caused by poor circulation
- You have open sores or tissue damage on your legs or feet caused by poor circulation
- You have started taking certain medications specifically for leg circulation problems (cilostazol or pentoxifylline) within the last three months
- You have had a procedure to restore blood flow in your leg arteries within the last month, or would need one during the study
- Your ability to exercise is limited by a condition other than poor leg circulation
- You currently have active cancer
- You have severe kidney disease (stage 5 chronic kidney disease)
- The skin fold on your calf measures more than 25 mm thick, as this may interfere with the monitoring equipment used in the study
- The oxygen level measured at your fingertip is below 95%
- You are unable to complete the required preparation phase of the study within three weeks
