Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blockage) for the first time, following Chinese national stroke diagnosis guidelines from 2018
  • People whose condition is currently stable after their first stroke

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with certain types of blood vessel abnormalities, including dissection aneurysm, aortic aneurysm, or brain aneurysm
  • People with significantly raised blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension)
  • People with bleeding disorders, a tendency to bleed easily, or who are taking blood-thinning medications with certain lab values above a set level
  • People with active inflammation of veins, blood clots in the veins, or blood clots in the veins of the legs
  • People with an active infection anywhere in the body
  • People with heart valve disease, a heart condition present from birth, or disease of the heart muscle
  • People with high blood pressure that is not controlled and remains above 170/110 mmHg
  • People with an irregular heartbeat that is not controlled
  • People with left-sided heart failure
  • People who are pregnant
  • People who have a cardiac pacemaker fitted
  • People who have an arterial clamp in place following brain surgery
  • People who have metal implants in their body, such as metal joints, shrapnel, or foreign objects near the eyes
  • People with a history of moderate to severe memory or thinking problems, or psychiatric conditions
  • People with a history of cancer
  • People diagnosed with moyamoya disease (a rare condition affecting blood vessels in the brain)
  • People with arterial blood clots in the legs
