Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women aged 20 or older who have had breast cancer on one side of the body, and who had surgery (either breast-conserving surgery or full breast removal) along with removal of lymph nodes from the same side
- People diagnosed with Stage I or II lymphedema (fluid build-up causing swelling) in one arm, as classified by the International Society of Lymphology
- People whose affected arm measures at least 2 cm larger in circumference than the unaffected arm at any point along the arm
- People who are able to attend follow-up appointments over a longer period of time
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body (Stage IV/metastatic cancer)
- People who are pregnant
- People who have lymphedema in any other limb, whether from birth or caused by another condition
- People with a history of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in a vein)
- People who have a pacemaker
- People who have artificial joints, implants, or tattoos larger than 4 cm² on the affected arm
- People who have received low-level laser therapy within the past 3 months
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 35
- People with a condition that causes a high risk of bleeding, such as haemophilia
- People who are currently on long-term steroid medication taken by mouth or through the whole body
