Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children aged between 6 and 16 years
- Children whose lung function test (FEV1) result is above 60% of the expected value
- Children who have been referred to a lung function laboratory for a specific breathing test that checks for airway sensitivity, using a substance called methacholine
- Children who have been using inhaled corticosteroids (a type of preventer medication) but have stopped taking them for at least 3 weeks before joining
- Children who, along with at least one parent or legal guardian, have verbally agreed to take part
- Children who are covered by a social security or health insurance plan
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have used a short-acting reliever inhaler (a type of bronchodilator) in the past 6 hours, or a certain type called an anticholinergic bronchodilator in the past 12 hours

- Children who have had a respiratory infection — such as a cold, chest infection, or similar illness — within the 3 weeks before joining
- Children who have epilepsy and are currently being treated for it
- Children who are already taking part in another clinical study that could affect how their lungs work
- Children or families who are unable to give proper consent, or who are considered to be in a vulnerable situation
