Who might be able to join this trial:
- The person must be older than 18 years of age
- The person must have a specific size of breathing tube in place (5.0 mm inner diameter and 9.4 mm outer diameter)
- The person must have been able to tolerate having their breathing tube capped (blocked off) for nearly 48 hours without their oxygen levels dropping to a concerning level, as monitored continuously
- The person must be able to swallow, as assessed through an inpatient training program

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had radiotherapy (radiation treatment) to the head or neck area
- People who are being fed through a tube that goes through the nose
- People who have significant difficulties with memory, thinking, or overall health, or who have swallowing problems caused by a neurological condition or another condition unrelated to a tumour
- People who have had their entire voice box (larynx) surgically removed
- People who are unable to sit or stand upright
