Who might be able to join this trial:

- You have been referred to a GCA (Giant Cell Arteritis) clinic because doctors suspect you may have this condition for the first time.
- You are able to understand the study information and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
- You are willing to attend the required study visits and follow the study procedures.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been referred because of a suspected return or flare-up of GCA that you have had before.
- You have recently been taking steroid tablets (such as prednisolone) — specifically, 14 or more days in a row within the past 30 days, or 7 or more days in a row if you also received steroid injections into a vein during the past 30 days.
- You are currently taking any medicines that suppress the immune system, whether standard or biological treatments (confirm with trial site).
- You have a known history of eye conditions affecting the retina or optic nerve, nerve-related conditions such as MS, certain brain conditions including fluid build-up in the brain, brain tumours (whether cancerous or non-cancerous), or any condition linked to increased pressure inside the skull.
- You have any condition that would make it impossible to perform an ultrasound scan of the optic nerve area or an eye examination looking at the back of the eye (confirm with trial site).
