Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (reduced blood flow in the arteries of the legs) in one or both legs, confirmed by a specific circulation test showing poor blood flow or hardened, non-compressible blood vessels.
  • People who have a severe form of this condition (called critical limb ischemia, rated at a certain level of severity) and have a wound or ulcer on the limb that has shown no sign of healing over the past 3 months.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a serious medical condition affecting the limb other than peripheral artery disease, such as a muscle disease, a blood disorder that affects circulation, or very severe heart failure.
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • People who have had an allergic reaction to ultrasound contrast agents (substances used to improve medical imaging) or to a substance called polyethylene glycol (also known as PEG or macrogol).
  • People whose blood pressure is dangerously low (systolic blood pressure below 90 mmHg) or who require medication to keep their blood pressure stable.
  • People for whom an amputation or a procedure to restore blood flow is already planned within the next month.
