Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a narrowing of the carotid artery (a major blood vessel in the neck) that is causing symptoms, along with evidence of a stroke on the same side as the narrowing
- People who have at least 1mm of soft (non-hardened) plaque buildup on the same side of the neck as the stroke
- People who have had a brain MRI scan showing stroke damage in an area linked to the narrowed carotid artery on the same side
- People who are already scheduled to have a surgical procedure to clear the blocked carotid artery (called a carotid endarterectomy)
- People who are able to read and understand English
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
