Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 40 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia according to the DSM-5 diagnostic guidelines
- People with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or above, or who have gained more than 10% of their body weight since starting antipsychotic medication in the past year
- People who have not received TMS (a type of brain stimulation therapy) in the past month
- People currently taking no more than two antipsychotic medications from a specific list (such as olanzapine, clozapine, risperidone, or quetiapine, among others), and not taking antidepressants or mood stabilisers — though short-term use of certain calming or muscle-relaxing medications is permitted (confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing and able to provide written informed consent voluntarily
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have other serious mental health conditions, intellectual disability, dementia, or severe thinking and memory problems, as defined by ICD-10 or DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
- People whose brain structure or function has been affected by a major physical illness, neurological condition, or traumatic brain injury
- People who have metal implants, a pacemaker, a history of epilepsy or seizures, or any other condition that makes TMS treatment unsafe
- People who are experiencing suicidal thoughts or have engaged in suicidal behaviour
- People with a history of alcohol or substance misuse
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People with any condition or implant that makes MRI scanning unsafe (confirm with trial site)
- People who have been receiving regular electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) or a weight-loss treatment programme within the past month
- People whose test results or health circumstances are considered by the research team to make participation inappropriate
