For children with acute leukemia (AL):

  • The child has been newly diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic or myeloblastic leukemia (two types of blood cancer)

  • The child is under 1 year old or over 15 years old
  • The child has an existing blood or bone marrow condition
  • Both parents or the legal parental guardian have not signed the consent form
  • The child has previously received treatment that could affect bone marrow function
  • A parent or legal guardian has a physical or mental health condition that prevents them from understanding the consent form
