Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer (a specific type called adenocarcinoma) that has spread to other parts of the body and is planned to be treated with hormone-blocking therapy (called ADT)
  • People who have had recent imaging of the body, either a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis plus a bone scan, or a special type of scan called a PSMA PET scan

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose prostate cancer is a rare type called neuroendocrine prostate cancer
  • People who have received hormone-blocking therapy (ADT) at any point in the year before joining the trial
  • People who are planning to take or are currently taking chromium supplements during the trial period
  • People who are planning to take or are currently taking apple cider vinegar supplements during the trial period
  • People who are not able to give informed consent, or who cannot understand or read English, unless an interpreter is available to assist
  • People with poor liver function above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
  • People with any other health condition, long-term illness, or lifestyle factor that the trial doctor believes could affect the person's ability to complete the trial or could put them at risk
  • People who are taking antibiotics that cannot be stopped before the trial starts and kept off for the entire duration of the trial
