  • Adults who have been diagnosed with a condition where the lining of the esophagus (the tube connecting the throat to the stomach) has changed to a different type of tissue (sometimes called columnar-lined esophagus or Barrett's esophagus)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously had any endoscopic (camera-based) treatment for Barrett's esophagus
  • People who have a history of cancer in the upper digestive tract (such as the stomach or esophagus)
  • People who have previously had all or most of their stomach surgically removed
  • People in whom enlarged, fragile veins in the esophagus (varices) were found during the procedure
  • People whose blood does not clot properly and this is not being controlled with treatment
  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning medications, including antiplatelet drugs (such as aspirin used to prevent clotting) or anticoagulants (such as warfarin)
