• People who have inhaled a large amount of fluid or food into their lungs.
• People who are persistently unable to clear mucus or secretions from their airway.
• People with severe instability in blood pressure or circulation that is not responding to fluids or medications.
• People with serious irregular heart rhythms of certain types.
• People with dangerously low oxygen levels in the blood.
