Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women who have been diagnosed with early-stage invasive breast cancer (stage I or stage II) confirmed by a biopsy before surgery.
- People for whom breast-conserving surgery is not possible due to medical reasons, or who have chosen to have a full breast removal (mastectomy).
- People who want to have breast reconstruction surgery.
- People aged between 18 and 70 years.
- People whose cancer tumour measures 3 cm or less at its widest point.
- People whose tumour has been confirmed by physical examination and breast MRI scan to not have grown into the skin, tissue just under the skin, or the chest wall.
- People where the tumour is at least 2 cm away from the nipple, and where physical examination and MRI confirm that the nipple and surrounding area are not affected by the cancer.
- People who have a general health and activity level that falls within a specific range on a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had serious heart or blood vessel problems — such as unstable chest pain, a heart attack, or a stroke — within the past 6 months.
- People who have been diagnosed with another cancer in the past 5 years.
- People who are taking medicines to suppress their immune system following an organ transplant.
- People who are currently on ongoing, long-term steroid hormone treatment taken throughout the body (not just a cream or local treatment).
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
