Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 45 and 75 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis in one or both knees for at least the past 3 months, based on recognised classification standards
- People who are physically able to take part in a movement and stretching program
- People who are willing to commit to completing the full 12-week study
- People who are able to have an MRI scan
- People who can read and understand English, including those for whom English is a second language, as long as they feel comfortable understanding the study questionnaires
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have regularly practised BDJ, Tai Chi, Yoga, other mind-body practices, physical therapy, or regular exercise such as running or cycling within the past year
- People with serious health conditions that could limit their ability to take part, such as heart disease with symptoms, lung disease requiring extra oxygen, uncontrolled metabolic conditions, or severe kidney or liver disease
- People who have had steroid injections into the affected knee joint, or reconstructive knee surgery, within the past 3 months, or hyaluronic acid injections into a joint within the past 6 months
- People who score below 24 on a standard memory and thinking assessment called the Mini-Mental Status Examination
- People who are unable to walk without a cane or other walking aid
- People who are planning to have knee surgery during the study period
- People who plan to permanently move away from the local area before the trial ends
