Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 20 and 60 years of age, male or female
- People diagnosed with osteoarthritis affecting one compartment of the knee joint, at a moderate or lower level of severity (Kellgren-Lawrence grade 3 or below)
- People whose knee alignment is off by more than 5 degrees, to a degree that a surgical bone-realignment procedure has been recommended
- People who have a damaged or missing meniscus (the cartilage cushion in the knee) in the part of the knee affected by the misalignment
- People who are able and willing to take part in a rehabilitation program and attend follow-up appointments, including X-rays and MRI scans
- People who have signed a formal consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a condition that limits their ability to participate, or a neurological (brain or nerve) disorder that could affect the research results
- People who have been diagnosed with any form of cancer
- People diagnosed with certain joint or inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter's syndrome, or arthritis caused by another inflammatory disease; or people with HIV, viral hepatitis, or a condition called chondrocalcinosis (calcium deposits in the joints)
- People with diabetes that is not well controlled
- People with a thyroid condition that is not well controlled
- People who have problems with alcohol, drug, or medication misuse
- People with a Body Mass Index (a measure of body weight relative to height) above 40
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study period
- People who have had knee surgery within the past 12 months
