Who might be able to join this trial:
For audiologists:
- You are a qualified audiologist who meets the requirements for membership of Audiology Australia.
- You have at least 1 year of experience working with children in hearing diagnosis, hearing aids, or cochlear implant services in Australia.
- You are willing to sign and date a consent form to take part.
For infants:
- The infant is between 1 and 24 months old at the time of the brain activity scan (fNIRS test).
- The infant has been diagnosed with permanent hearing loss in one or both ears.
- A parent or legal guardian is able to understand and sign the consent form on the infant's behalf.
Who may not be able to join:
For audiologists:
- An audiologist cannot review or give input on results for an infant who is already their own patient.
For infants:
- Any infant who does not meet all of the inclusion criteria listed above would not be eligible.
Additional notes:
- This trial involves two separate groups of participants: audiologists and infants.
- Infants only take part in one brain activity scan (called an fNIRS test) and are not involved in any further steps of the study.
