Who might be able to join this trial:

For the person with memory concerns:

  • Has been diagnosed by a doctor with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage Alzheimer's disease
  • Lives in the community, such as in their own home or an assisted living facility
  • Is aged 65 years or older
  • Has received medical clearance from their primary care doctor or a heart specialist
  • Has a suitable study partner who meets the requirements below
  • Is willing to have blood drawn as part of the study
  • Has been confirmed safe to undergo an MRI scan

For the study partner (a support person who joins alongside the participant):

  • Is aged 18 years or older
  • Has contact with the participant at least twice a week and has done so for at least 6 months
  • Is familiar with the participant's memory and ability to carry out everyday tasks
  • Is willing to provide consent on behalf of or alongside the participant

Who may not be able to join:

For the person with memory concerns:

  • Has a resting heart rate below 50 or above 100 beats per minute after sitting quietly for 5 minutes
  • Has a medical condition that guidelines from the American College of Sports Medicine consider a reason to avoid exercise (confirm with trial site)
  • Has new symptoms or health conditions that have not yet been assessed by a doctor
  • Has an abnormal heart condition identified during a fitness test conducted as part of the screening process
  • Is already taking part in another program or study aimed at improving memory or thinking
  • Has been doing moderate to strenuous exercise for 150 minutes or more per week over the past 6 months
  • Is currently taking two or more antidepressant medications, or has depression that is not well-controlled or stable
  • Has anxiety that is not well-controlled or stable
