Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have had a brain bleed (cerebral hemorrhage) and, after surgery, have been in a state of reduced consciousness for more than 28 days
- People whose level of consciousness, as measured by a standardised assessment tool called the CRS-R, meets the criteria for a "minimally conscious state" (a condition where there are some signs of awareness, but they are inconsistent)
- People for whom a signed consent form has been provided
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose brain bleed was caused by certain underlying conditions, such as abnormal blood vessels, a brain aneurysm, a type of blood vessel cluster called a cavernous hemangioma, a brain tumour, or carbon monoxide poisoning
- People who have a history of epileptic seizures
- People whose condition is considered critical, whose brain condition is not yet stable, or who are at risk of bleeding again in the brain
- People whose vital signs (such as breathing) are unstable and who require a machine to help them breathe
- People for whom spinal cord surgery is not considered safe or appropriate (confirm with trial site)
- People with a severe condition involving overactivity of the nervous system, sometimes seen after serious brain injury (confirm with trial site)
