Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who hear voices and have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People who hear voices at least once a day
- People whose hallucinations score above a certain level on a standard clinical rating scale (PANSS P3 score greater than 3)
- People who are able to give informed consent, are likely to complete the study, and are able to cooperate with the study procedures, as assessed by the trial team
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a problem with substance abuse or dependence in the past six months
- People with significant medical conditions, or a head injury that caused neurological symptoms or loss of consciousness
- People with an intellectual disability (IQ below 70)
- People who do not speak English
- People whose psychiatric medication doses have not been stable for at least two weeks before joining the study
- People who also have a diagnosis of a mood or anxiety disorder
- People who are considered clinically or behaviourally too unstable to cooperate with the study procedures
- People with an unstable medical condition identified through medical history, physical examination, or routine lab tests
