Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 or over (men or women) who have been diagnosed with a blockage or narrowing of the arteries in their legs, confirmed by an ultrasound or imaging scan of the blood vessels.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People under 18 years of age.
  • People who have had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) in the past.
  • People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient in the study drug Slavinorm®, or to proteins derived from animals.
  • People who have a medical reason that prevents them from safely doing a treadmill walking test.
  • People who are unable to walk on a treadmill at a slow speed (3.2 km/h) on a low incline for at least 2 minutes during the initial screening test.
  • People whose heart shows a particular abnormal pattern on an ECG (heart tracing) during the treadmill test (confirm with trial site).
  • People whose leg artery disease is caused by something other than a buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries (atherosclerosis).
  • People who have had surgery or a procedure on the arteries in their legs but do not experience leg pain or cramping when walking.
  • People with severe chest pain (angina) classified as Class III or IV by their heart specialist.
  • People with a body weight that places their Body Mass Index (BMI) above 35 kg/m².
  • People with serious kidney problems (where the kidneys are filtering at a reduced rate) or serious liver problems (where certain liver enzyme levels are significantly elevated).
  • People with severe heart failure, classified as Class III or IV by their doctor.
  • People who have had a heart attack or a serious heart event within the 6 months before the start of the trial screening period.
  • People with any other significant health condition that, in the opinion of the trial doctor, would make participation unsafe or unsuitable.
