Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been referred to a hospital for a procedure called a right heart catheterization (a test that measures pressures inside your heart) for any reason.
- You have been diagnosed with heart failure where the heart muscle still pumps normally (sometimes called HFpEF), with symptoms like breathlessness or tiredness, AND at least one of the following: a past hospital stay for worsening heart failure treated with IV water tablets; pressure measurements from a heart test confirming the condition; a blood test result above a certain level; or a score from a standard checklist used by doctors reaching a certain threshold (confirm with trial site).
- You have been diagnosed with heart failure where the heart muscle is weakened and does not pump well (sometimes called HFrEF), with symptoms like breathlessness or tiredness.
- You have significant disease of your aortic or mitral heart valve (leaking and/or narrowing) along with symptoms like breathlessness or tiredness.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable or unwilling to have a heart ultrasound scan (echocardiogram), or the scan would not produce good enough images for the study.
- You have a specific type of high blood pressure in the lungs caused by the lung blood vessels themselves (including cases linked to congenital heart disease).
- You have high blood pressure in the lungs caused by low oxygen levels or lung disease.
- You have high blood pressure in the lungs caused by blood clots in the lung blood vessels.
- You have high blood pressure in the lungs due to other miscellaneous causes.
- You have significant lung disease, low oxygen levels in your blood, or a lung infection.
- You have a condition where an abnormal protein or other substance has built up in your heart muscle (confirm with trial site).
- You have acute (sudden, active) inflammation of the heart muscle.
- You have had a heart attack or a procedure to open blocked heart arteries within the past 90 days.
- You are currently taking medications specifically prescribed for pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).
- You have a condition where the sac surrounding the heart has become stiff and is squeezing the heart.
- You have heart failure caused by the heart having to pump an unusually large amount of blood around the body.
- You were admitted to hospital for heart failure within the last 30 days.
- You have severe narrowing of your aortic or mitral heart valve, based on specific measurement thresholds (confirm with trial site).
- You are unable or unwilling to exercise as part of the study.
- Your heart ultrasound scan does not produce clear enough images.
- You are unable or unwilling to hold your breath when asked during the study.
