Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children and teenagers between 1 and 18 years old
- Patients who have been diagnosed with HSP (Henoch-Schönlein Purpura, a condition that causes a skin rash and can affect the joints, gut, and kidneys)
- Patients whose skin rash from HSP is severe (widespread and dense) and has not gone away — or new rashes keep appearing — even after being treated with standard medicines like antibiotics, antihistamines, calcium, and steroids for at least 5 days, and the rash has come back more than 3 times during their hospital stay
- A parent or guardian is willing to agree to the treatment and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- Anyone who is allergic to the drug leflunomide
- Patients who have another serious underlying illness, such as cancer, heart failure, liver or kidney failure, a weakened immune system, a severe infection, or who have had an organ transplant or need urgent surgery
- Patients who also have other diseases affecting the digestive system
- Anyone who has previously taken a drug called flumiphene as part of a clinical trial (confirm with trial site)
- Patients whose purpura (rash) is caused by a medication, an infection, or another autoimmune disease — rather than HSP itself
- Anyone the researchers feel, for any other reason, should not take part in the study (confirm with trial site)
